We recently bought a home with an Eco Water Softening System installed. The home is 3 years old.

We also happen to know the sellers. We've had 3 service calls, one to replace the resin, all of the calls are related to leaks. We walk in the garage door and the floor is flooded.

We contacted the old owners and they said they bought the 'top of the line' system with patented life-time resin warranty.

After reading the warranty,I realized the company touts the superiority of their products but does not stand behind them in any way. The warranty expressly states the warranty is only in effect to the 'original' owner of the home. No warranty conveys to the new owner. This is not a true product warranty.

I own a small business and we sell prodcuts that are warrantied to the home where the product is originally placed, not to the person that purchased them.

The technician came out to our home and said that resin in our area due to hard water typically lasts 4 years.

Sadly, this company is not intersted in customer service nor representing themselves in an honest and fair manner to consumers. Buy from a company during these trying times that at least represents themselves with some integrity.

Dealing with the two local ecowater dealers is trouble some in the Dallas Ft. Worth area.

After a little investigating i found that the dealer in Ft. Worth is a former satellite tv dealer. The dealer in Grand Prairie is a former Kirby vaccum dealer. I strongly suggest if you have any problems with your Eco system that you call the corporate office and get a number for a local service rep.

that is not a dealer. They are not directly affiliated with Ecowater.

They perform quality service and they don't try to scam you.

As one that deals with Corporate on a regular basis on the commercial side, I am here to tell you customer service does not exist with Eco Water.

I was told I only had to pay $50 a month for ten years and ge t product for the wash, dishwasher, hair each month for free. This system would purify my kitchen faucet and ice maker. Ten years times Fifty a month equals like a lot of money for a very little system.

Good thing I SMELLED A SCAM

@lisa: I compliment companies all the time on superior service. As a consumer, we have such little recourse, the least we can do is warn others before they are taken for a ride.

@texan: Thank you for informing us that for undisclosed reasons your company protects themselves against fraud. If only your customers were also protected..

@WQAPro: Actually, the manufact. warranty expressly states 'lifetime resin warranty'. Not sure if it's that particular model, etc. However, I am sure it is a service issue, as one of their technicians disclosed to me that I was probably not advised properly the first time around when they told me to replace the resin. My fault, won't happen again!

@Peg1949: Well, there was a valve issue as well, which has now been replaced 3 times. Once when they replaced the resin, and 2 x's after that when my garage floor was flooded. The coup de grace was when that last technician also stated that our valves had never been replaced, when I was staring at the charges from the previous service calls. Ouch. And yes, the previous owners would have loved to help me out; however, I had already called Eco and if I wasn't the original owner living in the home, the warranty was not extended to me.

Multiple leaks and fouled resin after 3 years sounds like physical damage or poor intallation/service to me. Here in FL, I have 3-5 ppm of chloromines (resin killers!) in my incoming water supply.

My resin bed is 6 years old and operating at full efficiency. The product you have is most likely not the root of the issue. Find a new service company! If you received a "resin warranty" then that did not come from ECO either.

That was most likely an B.S. "add-on" by the dealer.

ECO only warrants the mineral tank for a lifetime. And it also states "No ECOWATER dealer, agent, representative, or other person is authorized to extend or expand the warranties" Again this points to a shady dealer/retailer not the product or its implied warranty.

To: Eco Water Systems Complaint by Cvag---This reminds me of the old saying, "Your insurance is only as good as your agent." You have to ask yourself, "If there is a water leak, why would the resin need to be replaced?" What you had was a valve body issue (or a possible kinked drain hose). Did the previous owner leave the owners manual?

Did you look at the trouble shooting guide in the back? Why didn't the previous owner handle the warranty issue for you?
